Exceptional representation of the plants Bartram grew during the eighteenth century. It is free to the public but I would recommend giving donations as it takes money and labor to maintain such a sanctuary. The architecture of the Bartram house is also one of the most unique pieces of architecture dating from the eighteenth century and blends well with the gardens. I recommend this place to everyone interested in gardening, history, and for anybody wanting to get away from the hustle of city life.

Nice, small garden. Spent about 1.5 hours walking around. I am torn between the feeling that it would benefit from some care while I enjoyed the feeling of wild nature. They have a painting exhibit that is unique, with artwork on canvas tied to big tree trunks.

This is a beautiful place to bring friends, families, and out of town guests. The bathrooms are spotless. Staff are knowledgeable and engaging. I enjoyed myself immensely and can’t wait to go back.

Arrived Saturday for the free kayaking. It was windy and the lady working said she's been there for a few years and that day was the busiest ever... Arrived at 10:30 - waited an hr to kayak for 30 minutes. Worth cuz free? Yes

Pretty property for a nice walk next to the Schuylkill River as well as through the gardens. There is a wooden swing and access to the water! When we visited the event space had had a fire, there was a lot of damage.

I was really impressed at how lovely the garden was maintained. The trails down to the river are filled with plants that Barttam was cultivating back in the late 1700’s. This is truly a magical place to experience the history of American horticulture!
