Meet our baby Frankie, she is 7 months old German Shepherd mix, and was a handful and a 1/2, until we met Chris. The whole time he had her, I was missing her something awful, even to the point where I was even okay with the no sleeping, the stress of her not learning how to walk properly, and scared of everybody, including her own shadow most of the time, but I'm glad that we gave her this chance with Chris. She is a joy, and a love, and she deserves so much especially a chance to show how good she can be walking on a leash, and behaving while she's with other people and other animals. She did have it in her, and Chris was just able to find it in her, and bring it out. She walks so nicely and she's learning to make friends with people when she was scared of them before. She even has a young lady who comes 4 times a day to walk her for us, and our contractors are now able to come into the house without being afraid of her barking or jumping on them, and tonight is the first night she was able to sleep in her cubby. I am so proud of her. And I am so so very proud and thankful for Chris. I appreciate all the time he took with her and I was so scared that it wasn't going to stick, But it did. Thank you again, Chris, for all you done. You are truly a dog whisper. Thank you for helping her.

We recently enrolled our one-year-old mini poodle, who is incredibly lively and energetic, in a ten-day boarding and training program at Stronghaus. Milo has always struggled with containing his excitement and curiosity, making obedience difficult. However, upon his return, we were astonished by the transformation he underwent. Chris not only taught Milo the essential commands, but also provided us with the necessary insights and techniques to continue his obedience training at home. The transformation was immediately noticeable during our review session. Our once impulsive poodle had become alert, responsive, and well-mannered, filling us with immense pride. I was literally grinning from ear to ear while Chris was demonstrating all Milo had learned. Although it has only been a few hours since we welcomed him back home, we understand that it will require continuous effort on our part, but the positive change in his behavior is undeniable. We are now excited to explore new adventures with him, confident that we can guide him safely and joyfully without causing any inconvenience to others due to his unwanted jumps of excitement. We owe this all to Chris's expertise. If you are struggling with your dog's behavior, I highly recommend using Stronghaus. Their methods help to establish a relationship of respect and understanding between you and your furry friend. Additionally, their training techniques will turn the learning process into a fun and enjoyable experience for both you and your dog. This was our 2nd time using Chris Carr's Stronghaus training, and have referred him to countless friends/clients over the past 11 years. Both dogs my husband & I have had are Rottweilers. Our 1st one passed last year but til the day he died people always said he was thee best trained dog they've ever seen & I always credited Chris Carr for that. Every referral I have sent him over the years has nothing but positive feedback and how well their dog responded to the training. If you want your beloved family member to be happy and well trained look no further than Stronghaus! Whether you have a new puppy or an older dog in need of training Chris Carr is, in our opinion, the best dog trainer in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area! Probably the whole east coast!

We sent our eleven month old dog to Chris because we were having trouble with training him. He's stubborn &has been since we adopted him &had an extremely hard time training him ourselves. He's not a bad dog, he just doesn't know commands. So, I'm sure this training facility works for people because of the reviews, but I'm not rating this facility so poorly because of the success of the training (which by the way after one week of training my dog didn't retain anything without the collar that was hurting him), I'm rating this facility so poorly because my dog came home with four cuts that he didn't have when we dropped him off - & according to Chris, our dog had no interaction with other dogs there, so these wounds aren't from another dog. We went a week into his two week training to see how he was doing, and our dog was nothing like the dog we dropped off, and not in a good way. He was terrified, shaking, and stiff, which is extremely different from the energetic puppy we dropped off. Chris explained to us that he's been very stubborn with training so he has to continually correct him (pulling the collar tighter on his neck). He also pointed out his neck and said "I don't know if he came with this rash, but if he didn't, it's from us having to continuously use the collar because he's so stubborn." Our dog didn't come in with anything, and this isn't a rash this is a cut with some dried blood on his fur. He also has a cut on his nose, and two red marks on both of his hips, which I'm assuming is from him laying in his cage for so long, creating almost like pressure injuries. He had poop all down his tail, which we cleaned before we had the chance to take a picture of, but I'm not sure if the poop on his tail is from him pooping in his cage and it not being cleaned, or because my dog was so stressed that he had diarrhea. My boyfriend and I got extremely upset while watching Chris pull the collar tighter on him, and I explained to him that I didn't want my dog to be scared of me and I also didn't want to hurt him to have to train him. Chris said he trains dogs the way dogs train dogs, and dogs train each other by hurting them, and that I shouldn't really care about my dogs feelings as long as he knows that I am in control. I personally don't feel like there is any reason why my dog should have an open wound on his neck because he needs to be taught how to walk without pulling a leash.It was also clear that our dog wasn't understanding the commands he was being given, he was only following because he was terrified of the collar. We took him home after only one week because we decided we would rather have a dog who is more difficult to train and is stubborn at home, rather than come home and have our dog be even more scared and with an even deeper wound on his neck. Like I said, there are many five star reviews so clearly this works for some people but if your dog is very difficult and stubborn, this might not be the best option for you and your pet. An update on his wounds - we took him to the vet to just get them checked out and our vet shaved around them, this is what they look like. She said that the ones on his neck are from the collar being used too tightly and inappropriately, the one on his nose is most likely from him pushing against the crate, and the ones on his legs are pressure injuries, probably from being in a crate for an extended period of time without a blanket. Check my FB review for the very pompous comment Chris left, which compares our dog to a dog that attacked his assistant (again we sent him to learn commands) & also conveniently leaves out important parts of our conversations that we had with him to paint our dog into an aggressive, scary dog. Chris very quickly commented back using the word abuse. A term I NEVER used in my FB review & didn’t accuse him of, but he put that word out there, clearly knowing that these pictures don’t look too good for him. So, just be careful sending your dog here. They might come home with open wounds & an order for oral and topical antibiotics like our dog did.

I boarded my 1 year old mix bread (Lab, chow chow, among many other breads) dog, Saint, for the 10 day training. He's been home for 5 days now and what an incredible shift in his behavior. Saint is high energy, he would jump on any and every one (62 pounds of dog), he would run out of the house if the door opens, leaving us to chase him, and his pulling during our walks was unbearable. My husband and I did teach Saint basic commands, but he listened when he felt like it and didn't listen at all when strangers were around. Chris showed us that Saint had zero respect for us, we might have had something to do with his behavior (woops), and that Saint can be trained. Saint now has a foundation that allows us to use the commands that were taught during the training. We still have work to do, to keep up with the training but he's been doing so good. Training is actually becoming fun and we love celebrating his progress and seeing him follow commands (even when he would rather be doing something else). Most importantly we are able to keep him safe now that he is a better listener.

It has been almost 4 weeks since I had my dog, Gracie, a 2 yo old, 80 lb., very anxious, Bernedoodle, with Chris for his 10 day board and train program. She would pull so badly when on a leash that I was afraid she was going to pull me down and she also had the habit of jumping on me when I walked into the house. What a difference the training made with this dog! She no longer jumps up on any of us. She, at times, will still get a little distracted when on the leash and sees another dog, but I can easily get her refocused and not worry that she is going to pull me down. Her anxiety has lessened immensely, as well. Chris also helped me to be a better dog owner. I use the same commands Chris uses in his training and I am amazed at how well Gracie listens and how in control of Gracie I am instead of her controlling me.
