Five stars for being an excellent community park. Once called Black Oak Park over one hundred years ago, it was renamed to honor the Civil Rights leader. The park is six acres with several playgrounds, places to sit, and lots of shade. However, the real magic is in the community events they host from Jazz to Juneteenth celebrations to the Black Farmers Market two Saturdays a month.

Really nice park with port-a-potties, plenty of benches to sit, good atmosphere, high trees, gazebo and kid's jungle gyms. The only thing that I didn't see were swings, which was unfortunate.

The park is poorly maintained. The city pays less attention to this park, as other in the surrounding area are cleaner and nice. I would also say the residents that use the park could do better as well and clean up afterwards.

My visit to the Malcolm X Memorial in Philadelphia today, during the Juneteenth Parade, felt powerful, emotional, and deeply meaningful. The memorial already carries a strong presence, but seeing it on a day dedicated to freedom, resilience, and Black history made the experience even more unforgettable.

The city has clearly forgotten about the park but the community is keeping it together. During my visit there was a group of young girls cleaning the park. I loved to see it.
